Radiation

It's 12/19 and I've officially done 3 rounds of radiation. Only 27 more to go. Yes, I still have to attend on Christmas Eve and NYE, but I get the following days off for the holiday. Midway has 3 Christmas Eve services this year (at 1, 3, & 5 if you want to come!). If your girl seems tired, know it's likely because I had radiation that morning.

Radiation is like invisible lasers to the tumor, or at least that's how I like to think of it. However, I work in marketing and am not a doctor, so hear my medical verbiage with that in mind. A lot of people have been concerned about my side effects from it, but surprisingly, radiation side effects don't really show much until weeks 2-4, and that's likely tiredness. I have had some hot flashes, which isn't something I was warned about, but according to Google, it isn't uncommon for brain radiation since it can mess with hormones. There are a few tender spots on my scalp as well.

The appointments don't take long, and I wear this weird custom molded to my face mask that bolts me to a table so my head is in the perfect spot to target the right areas. I was worried I would feel claustrophobic, but since my eyes and nose are out, it's not so bad. Photos below of what it looks like.

So we press on with our hope. Every time I'm under those lasers, I'm praying it's hitting the right spots and that God's going to make something beautiful out of this tragedy.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

My Seizure meds are closer to perfect this week. I've only had two a day!! Hoping with maybe one more up, we can get down to 0.

Prayer requests: 1. Seizure medication getting perfect to eliminate seizures.

  1. Energy to show up well as a wife, mom, and coworker in the weeks to come with radiation.

  2. A fun and memorable holiday break for the kids where mommy being sick isn't the focus or core memory. We love you & if you don't hear from me again until after the 25th we wish you the Merriest Christmas!
