Diagnosis

Hey Friends, On December 3rd, I had my follow-up with my Emory Neurology Oncologist to go over the full pathology report.

FINAL DIAGNOSIS:

LOW GRADE (Grade 2) OLIGO GLIOMA.

Oligo is the best to have for Glioma. This was exactly the type that we had hoped and prayed it would be if it were cancerous.

We were presented with three treatment options, but chose the most recommended and standard plan.

Radiation 6 weeks followed by a 4-week break to recover, and then (likely early March) I will begin a nightly chemo pill. Each cycle of chemo lasts 6 weeks, with a goal of 6 full cycles.

If things go as they hope, this has me finishing the plan around this time in December 2026.

I go to the Radiologist in Carrollton tomorrow to get fitted for my radiation mask, which is custom molded to my head and face and holds me down on the table for radiation to target the perfect spots to kill the cancer. It sounds very claustrophobic, but I only have to wear it for 1-2 minutes, so I keep telling myself I can do anything for 2 minutes.

To everyone who has bought a shirt, donated money or a meal, kept the kids, given rides, prayed, and encouraged our families and us, thank you. I can't imagine how hard this would be without the support we have. We look forward to returning the favors as villagers for you one day.

Keep up the Stubborn Radical Hope.

Prayer Requests: 1. That we find the right combo of meds to stop seizures. (They are getting less frequent and less painful, but we are gradually increasing the dose of one med by 25 mg a week until we get the best combo with my other meds. I'm averaging 3-5 seizures a day.)

  1. That we get to start radiation ASAP once my mask is ready, so we make the most of Phillip's adoption paternity leave. ,

  2. That my body handles the radiation well. There is a chance it will reduce or eliminate my seizures entirely. Radiation's main side effect is tiredness, and I work for a church during the Christmas season.

  3. Phillip, as he picks up my slack and takes on more. He's been a great partner and Uber driver since we started this journey.

Praying intensely for your healing, for the Lord to use this hard time for his glory in your life (as is already evident in your faith and positive outlook), for provision of funds, babysitters, comfort, and peace. 🩵
